Grieg Seafood BC Ltd., a dynamic and growing company in the Aquaculture industry, is seeking to hire a full-time Freshwater Production Director, as a key member of the Executive Management team. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role has prime responsibility for all aspects of the freshwater production, the key objectives being to produce smolt of the planned size, quality and cost to meet the needs of the seawater production team. Within 2 to 3 years a new hatchery will be designed, built and commissioned in BC. The FW Production Director will be fully responsible for managing this project and then subsequently overseeing the efficient running of this new facility and the existing FW production facility.
The FW Production Director leads a team of a Freshwater Production Manager, two Assistants Freshwater Production Manager, Lead Hands and Technicians.
The Freshwater Production Director will be based in Campbell River, BC and will travel very often to Gold River, BC, the new Hatchery location, within Canada and internationally. They will work 40 hours on average per week, Monday to Friday. They will be on call in case of an emergency.
Key Accountabilities
- Collaborate at the Group level and ensure that regional systems are aligned with Global systems and practices;
- Operate with a focus on managing and reducing risk to people, stock and equipment;
- Participate as a senior manager in the BC operation – assist in the development of the corporate culture, develop a culture of safety and develop and maintain a strong focus on planning, developing and adhering to agreed SOPs;
- Maintain efficient and productive staffing levels;
- Establish and maintain the ongoing good will and collaborative team efforts of the FW team and in the wider organization.
Qualifications and Skills
- BSc or equivalent academic qualification or higher with emphasis on Hatchery operations or related field;
- A minimum of 10 years related managerial experience, or a combination of education and experience;
- Strong leadership skills;
- Advanced Project Management skills;
- Solid communication, problem-solving, team-building and interpersonal skills;
- Favourable driver's licence.
