Australis Aquaculture is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and effective aquaculture professional to manage the continued development of our marine operating and farm management teams. You will oversee efforts to continually improve biological and economic performance through the optimization and maturation of operational protocols and systems, planning and oversite of the development of a second farming region and other development initiatives. Responsibilities will include planning, budgeting, project management, teambuilding, as well as the core technical aspects of production operations. As a solution-oriented and inspiring leader, you will ensure consistent operational excellence through the implementation of a broad range of marine operating activities. You will report directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

This Director level position will have overall responsibility for production management and the optimization of daily operations across multiple marine aquaculture sites in Vietnam. Your role will encompass a range of tasks aimed at ensuring efficient production, maintaining fish health, and upholding the highest quality and sustainability standards. Responsibility for the management of new initiatives and innovation will also be core to your role. You will collaborate closely with your team and contribute to the development of best practices while driving operational improvements.

Key tasks will include:

  • Planning, organizing and supervising operations of marine production across multiple sites.
  • Developing strategic goals, action plans, and successfully implementing them.
  • Analyzing production data to support future planning and decision making.
  • Ensuring adherence to the quality system and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Project management to support capital and operational planning and implementation.
  • Motivating and leading teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
  • Implement resource tracking systems for offshore components and equipment.
  • Operational optimization / proactive follow-up at the aquaculture sites.
  • Participating in the company operational leadership and innovation teams.

 Qualifications and Characteristics:  

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a responsible management role in large scale, commercial sea cage aquaculture production.
  • Proven management and leadership abilities, with a track record of achieving results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, with the ability to implement solutions.
  • Well organized with demonstrated ability to work independently with a structured approach.
  • Ability to foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion to maximize team performance.
  • Experience with strategic, capital, and operational planning.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, which serves as the working language for our operations.
  • Clear and effective communication skills to facilitate collaboration and coordination.
  • Practical experience in risk analysis.
  • Analytical capabilities using Excel to assess results and evaluate future production scenarios and outcomes with support from the in-house analytical team.
  • Energetic, loyal, ethical and skilled at engaging and motivating employees.

Additional Information:

  • Primary work location will be at our farms in Van Phong Bay, with secondary work at the company’s office in Nha Trang and occasional travel to new regional sites under development in Southern Vietnam. Van Phong Bay is located one hour north of the enchanting coastal city of Nha Trang. Transportation to the farm is provided.
