Job description

Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established in 2010 to set and operate global standards for responsible aquaculture.

Our vision is a world where aquaculture plays a major role in supplying food and social benefits for humanity whilst minimising negative impacts on the environment.

Our mission to transform aquaculture towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility using efficient market mechanisms that create value across the chain.

We work all around the world, with aquaculture producers, seafood processors, retail and foodservice companies, scientists, conservation groups and the public globally to promote the best environmental and social choice in farmed seafood.

The ASC is currently seeking a Trustee who can help the charity extend its ambition and impact, hold it to account, and who will champion its cause. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team of Trustees at the heart of a growing, global organisation addressing some of the most pressing global challenges of our time.

The Board of Trustees is core to achieving our ambition to grow our impact and influence in service of our vision: ensuring that aquaculture plays a major role in supplying food and social benefits for humanity while minimising negative impacts on the environment.

We are looking for a Trustee who has experience of working in industries relevant to our subject focus, such as sustainability, seafood, food, and certification. An awareness of digital transformation would be particularly advantageous to the ASC at this time.

We are keen to ensure our Board has a diversity of skillsets and perspectives reflective of the countries we operate in and especially welcome applications from candidates with lived or work experience in geographies currently under-represented on the Board - including Latin America, Africa, China, and Southeast Asia.

If you are interested in our mission and inspired by our work, then we encourage you to apply.
