Job Title: UK Fish Buyer/Trader (British Coast/Skippers Catch)
Report to: Head of Fresh Fish
Role Purpose Statement: This role is part of the central fresh buying team, sourcing some of the core British Coast species of the M&J proposition at market leading prices to enable the profitable growth of the business. Ensuring M&J buy better product smarter than the competition.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities: · Negotiate best price on key product categories utilising M&J’s scale – encompassing the M&J policy on sustainability · Develop new entrepreneurial commercial opportunities in Foodservice, Wholesale and other markets – growing sales and margin – trading operation · Find and develop new sources/products both in the UK and internationally · Ensure product quality and availability standards are met · Develop strategic partnerships with supplier base through ownership and account management of key specie/suppliers · Provide insight into future pricing and market intelligence · Find and develop new areas and market opportunities · Work closely with wider commercial team (category, technical and marketing departments) · Support local branch buying team | Performance indicators: Cash margin in relevant categories Sales growth Cost vs market indices Customer complaints Product availability Range and variety of specie

Knowledge, skills & experience: The successful candidate will be highly numerate, results driven and an excellent communicator. They must have minimum 2 years’ experience of procurement, ideally in fish and Seafood. Experience of leading small teams beneficial. Must also be competent in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. Role will include an element of UK based travel. | Location Preferred commutable to Aylesbury Consider Newlyn/Plymouth/Brixham/Wimborne – South coast
